Water Vapor In Cylinders

Hi Guys,

For the last several months there has been some corrison on some of the spark plugs--we change them every other race. Last week when I set the valve lash I pulled the plugs and as I was bumping it over a very fine mist of water was shooting out of the plug holes on cylinders 1 thru 4 (Dart block 306). The gaskets are 3 yrs old and are a SCE Titan--basically a copper gasket with a rubber coating around the passages.

The rad level is down a bit but there is nothing in the oil at all. I'm guessing that once the motor comes up to temp then it is sealing up--possibly?? As long as I'm not getting water in the oil is is still safe to run as is?? I intended to change gaskets in November when we swap intakes. No planned races this season but would like to run a few T&T's if they will hold. Any thoughts??

Yeah it should be fine. I had the exact gasket and the exact problem. I switched back to a MLS and no problems since.

Have you brought the motor up to temp and see if it's still doing it?

O.K. that sounds beter then. I wanted to go with the MLS when we changed HG's 3 yrs ago but I have a wire inserted around each CC in the head--I called dtheir tech and was told that the wire was not compatible with the MLS's so, I went with the SCE Titans and until now all has been fine.

Also retorque the heads too...

I'll run it up to temp on Monday and then check for the water then, if it's still there I will pull the intake, the port plates, the headers and re-torque. It's a pain but easier then the heads--hoping that cures the issue.

Thanks!!

Light rust/corrison on them and quite rich due to the ultra conservative tune--with the exception of the rust, they look the same as always.

Definately bring the motor up to temp and check it...

I think you need to retorque the headgaskets...
