This suck!!

Eastpointe...Stephens and gratiot area.

It looks drier in the pictures. I actually only have 2 small spots that don't have standing water. It is really deep in the center and the outer portion isn't quites as deep yet :(

Yeah it is big fun taking the dog out!

Looks like on top of needing a 6' fence I also need to build my yard up and get sod :(

My dad's company does underground and water mains, so I'm trying to get him to bring a pump over and pump it out. His answer is to let it keep flooding :icon_eek:

Looks like the neighbors were smart enough to build up there yard first :dontknow:

i'd secretly pump into the neighbors yards at night.

It would just end up where it started as the neighbors yard appears to be angled downward towards her yard.

If the house has a basement I might be concerned. I'm sure there is a way to properly drain the yard.

My dad is here pumping it out right now :) Of course it is raining as he is pumping it :bs:

He said building it up won't do to much, because it will drain on the other side of my yard on the driveway and garage.......

So I may be digging a trench and running it up to the front yard :dontknow:

If you spread about a yard of sand evenly over the flood area it will not flood again. Had the same problem when I lived in Warren.

Sorry to hear about this. The best solution is to have french drains put in under the ground in that area, and route them into the nearest city storm drain. Backfilling the area may make the water run towards your house, which is worse yet.

It looks like your lowest part of the yard is in the back left corner. you might want to put a drain there and run PVC or corrigated pipe to the front and have it drain to the street. My guess is that your yard has a high clay content . If you do decide to resod the yard (in the future) I would put a sand topsoil mix down first. the grass roots love that mixture.

I thought we were going to get some interesting beach pictures. ;)

What's the soil like in your yard? Is there a lot of clay that's preventing the ground from absorbing the water fast enough?

The benefit from building up wouldn't be to avoid the pooling by sloping it to the neighbors. It would be to allow the yard to handle the water drainage faster than it does today.

Hey, Shelly. Long time no hear from.

I thought this was going to be about you on vacation or something. Dont feel bad my moms backyard looks like that, also.

Whoa! Good thing you don't have a basement.
Build up the backyard from the house back and throw a dry well in with a pump near the back of the garage for ease of electrical. Then run a line underground to the street. Done deal.
