I thought it was a rod knock when I first heard the knock in the car, but now that I got it home and listened to it more it sounds like the lifters. I had been hearing a tick for a while now that would increase with RPM, but assumed it was normal for the 4.6's so didnt think too much of it.

Im going to buy an oscilloscope in a few days and see if I can find where its coming from.

exactly what I was thinking when I heard it, after 24 seconds of the key in bonging



tug on all your coils, see if any are broken, if it is, pull it out and the plug will probably be loose in the hole

That does sound like a compression leak of some sort. Have you changed the plugs recently?

That sounds like a plug blew out of the head.

I changed the plugs months ago.

Ill pull the COPs off tomorrow and see if any of the plugs are loose.

Alright..I blew a plug. The threads on the plug seem to be okay still so hopefully the head is good. It was only a little loose in the head.

yes it will start run and drive but i have to keep the accelerator floored to keep the car going. I actually had to put the car in neutral with the accelerator floored when turning or stopping just to get the car to my house.
