TV sound bar

Looking at possibly getting a sound bar. I've got an LG TV. Is mixing manufacturers a no-no or should I go with what sounds best/best deal?

I don't want extra components due to room size so a sound bar seems more convenient

Go with a 2.1 setup over a sound bar. My living room is small, about 16 x 14, and the 2.1 setup is great. I'm running a pair of B&W bookshelf speakers, a JBL sub, and a 2 channel integrated amplifier. Sound bars give no positional effects and sound like a mono system from more than a couple feet away.

That's a pretty nice setup. I have a 1 year old so I would prefer to mount everything higher up. I did see that LG has a 2.1 soundbar. I would have to hide the subwoofer somewhere. I can only imagine how many Cherrios he would try to fill it with though.

I have an LG sound bar with wireless sub. Works great, bob it's not surround but it does well filling the space at less than half way up. Wife likes to crank it up when cleaning the house.

Ah yeah having a young kid around the sound bar is definitely more feasible. I remember a few years back when my brother bought a vintage Kenwood receiver from a garage sale, somebody's kid stuck pennies through the ventilation slots in the case
