tuning help 95 LT1 Z/28 with a D1SC procharger ...running very rich...who to take it too??

Just picked up a 95 Z/28 383 stroker with a D1Sc procharger
car has a little surge while cruising ...when I WOT it it looks like a diesel blowing black smoke and running like shit ...looking for suggestions ...new opti already installed ...it needs a tune put on it .
Who is good with these cars ...Wheel to wheel did my buddies ...but they're gone ...Stenod??
anybody else ...i live downriver ...but can trailer the car where ever it needs to go...Thanks dave
 
sean at cars is good on lt's i think. i used to tune them but not anymore. does it have a FMU?

If its never been tuned it NEEDS one. Honestly i wouldnt even drive it until its tuned.

What kinda boost and compression?

you are gonna need new plugs, a rough guess considering mods would be NGK tr6 should do good unless you have different heads.

no FMU has a aeroquip boost reference regulator ...compression is right at 10 to 1 ...forged eagle crank . I beam rods ...Guy had a mail order tune in it ...thinking with it sitting for 4 years ,,,that injector cleaner and new gas may help...maybe I'll see if I can borrow a wideband from work and look at A/F ..anything else make these things go pig rich ??

it depends on a lot of things. type of injectors, static fuel pressure, vacuum/boost leaks, camshaft, etc.

considering the modifications a mail order tune is not going to cut it, this car needs a dyno tune.

hopefully sean from cars can chime in here, I know Victory Racing has good ties with a really good GM tuner but the tuner dosen't really do many LT-1s anymore, its all LS now.
 
Sean's done a lot of LT1's. And I'll second it that with 10:1 compression and a blower I'd definitely wait to drive it until it's tuned in properly.
 
thanks guys ...i guess I have a couple of issues ...first,,it has probably 5 gallons of 4 year old gas in it ...added lukas injector cleaner and filled it with Mobil 93 ...i know it will need the plugs changed ...anything else before I bring to Sean...anything i need to verify before making a Dyno appointment ...i will also change the oil with either 5W30 or 15W50 Syn. Oil...anything I am missing ??
 
sounds like you got it all covered. id go with 10w30, i see no reason to go thicker unless the motor was set up loose. you could call sean and pick his brain as far as what to have done before you have him tune it.

btw, one of the best mods i did to my camaro during the 383 madness was using an LTCC to drive 8 ls1 coils. look it up. it made the car run soooooo much better.
 
yeah i have looked at that system as well as the LS! PCM conversion...not sure of my plans for this car are yet ..i may just spin it ..i am building a 94 Z with a 555 BBC right now ...this car just kinda fell in my lap..guess we will see when its sorted out ...

I used to work for Wheel to Wheels sister company when we were under the TecStar umbrella. Most of those guys are working at a new shop in Walled Lake called MotorCity Speed. Rich Gala who is more than likely who tuned your friends car is there
 
what color is it I seen a blue one, and was whistleing down the street. This was about a year ago in lincoln park.
