Hi, I am starting to run some fuel lines, trans lines, and other stuff and wanted to have some questions answered and also have a place where this is discussed so my and others do thier stuff right.

1. What is the differance between 45 and 37 flares?? is one better than the other?

2. What are some pro's con's or types of tubing, alum, copper, steel, braided...

3. What types of fittingas are the best/cheapest/in Detroit??Best places to buy (metro area)

4. Best method to clam lines together and to the frame?? I was trying to fab up some cheap brackets and was having no luck.

well thanks for helping make me smarter :rockwoot:

1. 45* flare is what a standard parts store flaring tools makes. Its a the standard flare. 37* flare is known as JIC or or AN flare. they claim the 37* flare seals better but who knows ?

2. Copper is easy to work with but has limited pressure capacity somewhere around 110psi or so depending on a host of factors.Aluminum is higher PSI then copper but prone to work hardening cracking and it will crack if bent to agressively. Steel is the best material but very hard to flare without splitting and is a real bitch to bend.

3. Most all fittings are the same price pretty mush eaverywhere. Those things aren't cheap if your talking aeroquip,Earls etc. Now if your talking about the new black.titanium Mr gasket stuff those are a good bit more economical.

4. Most place carry line clmaps or brackets. they are steel with a rubber insert to protect the line from chaffing damage.

I myself like using aluminum line.
1. Its easy as shit to bend
2. It wont rust
3. Its not that expensive.

If youve got some money and u want it looking REAL NICE, go with some steel braided hose with AN fittings. Its a little harder to assemble since sometimes the fittings are hard to install on the line, but after a couple bloddy fingers u'll get the hang of it. Very expensive tho.

Like Sean said, use the rubber inserted line clamps
