True duals on Camaro, need help

Alright, I ordered myself a universal 3 inch H pipe kit and some Hooker Aerochamber mufflers for my 95 Z28. The H pipe portion looks damn good, however, after that, it gets a little hairy. I have 3 point subframe connectors and a chassis mount torque arm. This fucks everything up. I had to put the pipe in a press a flatten it out a little bit to get it to clear the connectors (yes, I realize this effects efficiency, but it appears its a minute amount). My mufflers are basically dragging the ground. If i stacked my hands on top of each other they would be close to hitting the mufflers. I am beyond discouraged at this point and need to find a way to make this work. I would not be opposed to purchasing a different type of muffler. What would the cons be of coming right off the H pipe with mufflers and having them sit basically at the end of the transmission? Thank you for any help you can provide.

Are you trying to put the mufflers before or after the axle? If they are before, they are going to be low to the ground there as there is no ground clearance in that area already. If you can get the pipes to the rear of the car the floor is higher so you can get the mufflers up higher. There are plenty of pics & different ways to do these on the internet. Check out LS1tech. I got lots of ideas for mine from there. Was going to go duals after my turbo's but due to space constraints ended up with a 3"Y off the downpipes to a 4" that goes over the axle and into 3" Y that splits back to dual tailpipes with a bullet muffler in each tailpipe.

Cons to the mufflers under your seats (by the end of the transmission) would be drone, noise, and the exhaust exiting right below you. If you are stuck in traffic, the fumes will come right in your windows. That is the one complaint I have heard of when people have dumps under the car that are too close to the side windows along the length of the car.

like i told you before.. when u put duals on it.. your not going to have any ground clearance. fbodies are not meant for duals unless u clearance the floor for the tubing to run

Do you think running a muffler 3/4" thinner and a couple inches shorter would help me out? The reason I asked about coming right off the H pipe is I was contemplating using a collector style muffler.

Unless you run a straight through/bullet style muffler right at the collector you will be killing huge amounts of horsepower and torque.

i dont think with his car its going to hurt it too much..

Stock motor, no. H/C motor I have, yes.

I almost think My best bet is to get rid of the 3 point subframe connectors and just the the 2 points. I wouldn't have to use the flat pipe that way also.

How do people go about clearancing the floor boards? Just pounding them with a hammer?
