tricks for mounting slicks without tubes?

I just got some 28x10x16" slicks from a buddy, they're going to be going on some v6 mustang wheels. he had tubes for them but they both leak pretty bad, i was wondering if you can mount slicks without tubes? what all is involved in "screwing" them? and would that be possible to do on some aluminum wheels? I've heard before that if you clean the edges of the slicks with dawn that you can get by without tubes or screwing them, anyone heard of that?

The reason for using soap is to help ease the tire onto the rim. You don't need tondo anything different when mounting without tubes. The tubes are just to hold air and provide a little more structure to the sidewall of the slick. Typically when they leak air with tubes, it is from a bad valve stem and not the tire/tube. Without tubes the slicks will bleed air pressure very slowly. I have 28x10.5x15 slicks on a 10" wide Weld Prostar without tubes or rim screws. They work just fine, I just make sure I check air pressure everytime before I drive it. Usually I have to add air every few days or so.
