Transfering a title from out of state

What forms and what not will I need going to the SOS office for transfering a title from an out of state vehicle to michigan? Also do they base the sales tax off the selling price written on the title? It was left blank for me to write whatever I want in it. The SOS website goes into detail about transferring titles from within the state but not across borders.

All you do is take the signed title to the SOS, write an amount in the sale price that you are comfortable paying taxes on, and they will register the car to you.

There are a bunch of misc fees, but it's a short process.

That is if you dont have the title, but gives you some guidelines.

Its really no different form transfering a in state vehicle. Just the title, proof of insurance and your check book.

"Yeah, I gotta register this fucking truck. It's a old time pick 'em up truck. Can I come down there and talk to you about dat?"

"Yes, just bring the title and bill of sale and we handle take care of that for you."

"See, now we're off to a bad start. You wanna know da truth? Truck's stolen."
