Trans suggestions for Turbo 302

Looking to try and go with an auto trans for my turbo mustang. Car is mainly intended for street/strip applications with some freeway driving. Not looking to spend a fortune but would like to have a reliable c4 setup. What should I be looking for as far as converter and trans build? (would like at least rmvb). Car it would be going on is a stock block 302 with hci, 70mm and around 500hp to the tires. Current gear is 3.08 but might swap for a somewhat lower gear

Sounds exactly like my Setup, but I am running a well worked AOD. I went with this because I wanted the OD for cruising the highway. I'd swap the 3.08 for a 3.27-3.55. I'm running a 3.31 in my car and I really like it. If you are dead set on a C4 and plan on doing any cruising on the highway you might be ok keeping the 3.08 to keep the RPMs down on the highway.

I was kinda thinking the 3.08 would be nice for the c4 at cruising speeds but I'm still pretty sure id rather do the c4 route because I'm on borrowed time as it is with the t5 lol

I broke my t-5 that only had ~1000 miles. The c4's are cheap but the AOD is nice because of the overdrive. I picked up my trans for a song and a dance, and it was fresh when I bought it and came out of an 8 second car..so I know its more then enough for my measly 500hp

Might have to look into some aod setups then. Btw like the superduty in your avatar pic, makes me miss my 99 F350 7.3 :/ I had the same headlights and blacked out front end too

I have a built aode ready to go only needs a converter, 3,000 miles will hold 900 with a different input shaft

I have a C-4 with 3.27 gears and the highway driving is tolerable - wish I could afford an AODE/4R70 but it would cost nearly 4k to handle the power
