Trans choices for a GN

A friend has a Grand National and the prior owner installed a T350. My friend hates the lack of overdrive and wants to either install an original trans or something with an OD. Would he better off just adding a Gear Vendors OD or is that too costly? What are his trans options that won't break the bank? The car is mildly modded.

Sean are you around? He'd like to use someone local (Pontiac).

He should put the TH200 back in it. Ridings builds a really bad ass TH200 for those cars, they live deep in the 9s. PM me if you want his number.

for overdrive, the only real choice is a 2004R
a 700R4 will work too, but the 2004R is a better choice

Ok,
I am dumb here on the auto's

Why do you want a 200R over a 700R
I thought the 200 was weaker, and overall the same tranny really.

Sorry, just trying to learn here

ive always heard of 2004rs lasting alot longer then 700r4s

ridings is good but be prepared to wait, Darko has been waiting on a built 2004R from him for over a year, and still no timeframe to completion

I know that the 200 4R has a better first/second ratio difference, but I forget how they compare internally. 200 4R also usually has the BOP housing bolt pattern as well. I've heard that they are the same length as the TH400 and TH350 as well, which would make swaps easier.
