Hi Guys,
Looking for advice to solve an on-going problem I have with spinning off the line. The car is our True Street Fox body car. Weighs 3220 lb race weight and is putting down 740 to the tires. Best ET to date is a 9.10@152 with a lousy 1.47 short time. The best 60' it ever did was a 1.42 and generally it is in the 1.45 range. Tires are M/T ET Streets 28X12.5X15 with about 35 passes--they still look good and the 60' time has been the same from day one with the tires. I've had the suspension (all UPR chrome moly pro series,Strange adj. struts/shocks) gone thru by Brian at Skinny Kid and it all was good. Car launches as straight as an arrow. Should mention that press. seems to work the best at 10.5 and the car launches off the transbrake at 4200-4800 with little effect (5200 stall).
Long story short, it spins right at the hit--not a hook then spin. The front shocks are set on loose and the 60' really doesn't change much if at all whether the rear shocks are loose or tight.
Maybe I'm expecting too much from the tires but I feel that the car is making the power to go at least high 1.3's
Second part of this note...... If I were to change tires and try a Drag Radial---that a LOT of experienced racers have suggested--whick one is working the BEST.....M/T ET Street Radial OR a Hoosier DOT Drag Radial?? The M/T seems to be more popular and all my experience hs been with M/T but I want the best hooking tire for the track. A full slick is not legal for us. Any advice in my delimma???
Thanks!!
