Anyone ever use them?

Stories... Good/Bad... Before I spend the money on them I eant to hear experiances.

Thanks!

Never seen any real positive results either way. If you are running nitrous/super/turbocharger ( high cylinder tempatures and pressures) i would definately stay away.

Why is it that you would stay away with nitrous?

what rings would you suggest for a 300 hit off a plate? 331 sbf.
I had really good luck with my JE's but I gapped them a little large & need a new set. Just not sure which direction to go yet.

Speedpro Hell Fire Rings. The extra heat buildup in the Total seals has cuased ring end gap butting in a few applications. I have seen it once or twice in endurance offshore racing engines as well.

another vote for the Hellfire rings.

Ive never used the total seal rings but have herd there not what there all hyped up to be. When the engine is up to temp. the ring gap is allmost closed anyways.

i just put a set of total seal gapless 1st and 2nd rings on my r358 with 20lbs and a 100 shot ill repost in the spring and tell how they hold up.. i hope they work out...

Please tell me you didnt use "gapless" on both your first & second rings.
If so you need to change one of them to a conventional ring. I had a conversation with the guys at Total Seal & they told me never to run gapless on both or severe damage will happen right away. It creates some kind of vapor lock between the rings.

we talked to total for my setup they suggested # m1006-65 looking at the invoice it only says top ring my bad...

diamond stopped making the j hook rings becouse of many problems . they say if you can install them without breaking them they will be ok...boy were they wrong..when i would run the car it would build preshure in the oil pan and it would push oil out. we did a compression check it was ok i really needed to do a leakdown but i pulled the engine and went through it.

Pretty much the same thing my JE's did but I think it was my fault..... I let the engine idle too much before putting any load on it. When I first ran the car at the track without the hood it would push the dip stick out about 2 inches & put oil on the windsheild.. first pass I thought I blew it up...lol

I use Sealed Power Moly or Hastings depending on the engine output.
Never had an issue with a ring yet. I think proper end gap and deburring is critical, especially with power adders. I'll find out this spring when I spray the hell out of my turd.

Mr Bigg,
I do not know where your have gotten your information, however, we have not discountuned the j hook or napier ring. We use that ring in 80-90% of our combos. You do have to be careful installing them, usually using a tapered ring compressor designed for the bore size you are using is the key to not hurting the ring when installing it.

what kinda rings did i get from you mikey, werent they hellfires or something, but whatever they were they seem to work good for me...dont know if its the j ring you talking about or what...

388 monte.. my buddy just built a 383 for his slomaro and who ever he talked to at diamond when he bought his pistons said they stopped selling/making them..he went with total seal rings so far he is happy with their performance.
