Torque converter clutch solenoid unplugged

My 94 Cutlas Ciera always stalled when I slowed down to come off a freeway and the speed got below, say 25 or 30 mph. I unplugged the torque converter clutch solenoid, and presto, the problem went away. I've changed the trans fluid since then, but I didn't want to tear the whole trans apart to get at the solenoid to replace it.

So my question is, is the trans going through any extra wear and tear not locking up at higher speeds? I can tell my mileage has gone to hell, but everything else seems cool. Any thoughts?

Pull the side pan and replace the selenoid. Or one of our sponsors can do it for ya. Typically runs about $175 with the selenoid JIC you were wondering.
