Today at Onandaga Dragway!!!!!!!

Got invited out by Jeff Cook, (BADBLACKZ) to the defunct Onandaga Dragway, located southwest of Mason (between Jackson and Lansing) today and had a blast. The track was officially closed in 1978, but a few guys leased the land, and the county lets them do "testing" from about 12-1pm til 6pm or packed up and gone at dusk, whichever comes first. It is a 4-5,000 foot track, and the return road is long gone, so you have to drive back up the track after a pass, but everyone was very safe, also friendly.They are only running the 1/8th mile, but it was a blast. Big-tire single-digit cars are leaving wheels up on the VHT prepped surface. I thought it was awesome to just even be able to see one of the tracks that "used to be", let alone make some passes on it!!!!!!!!!! Was about 40-45 miles from my house, in howell. Mark (foolsgold80Z) was also there, he hauled from pontiac, about 1.5 hours. This is on the other side of the earth from most of you, but it was awesome to go to a place where you could test your stuff, and not have to worry about the cops, its private property! A county sheriff even stopped by, and went for rides in peoples cars lol!

Thanks for having us today Jeff!!!! Had a blast, we will be back.

Mark- I asked this question, but apparently not to the right person because they didnt have an answer for me. I will assume through the end of september, at the bare minimum. I will find out for sure though. Another guy did say they run the sleds out there in the winter too!!!! Your car hooks like a mofo on bullshit pavement and on the street so you should bring it out there and represent!!!!!!!! It was all damn chevys out there!!!!! And one other mustang, probably an 11 second car............

I would imagine they will be out there as long as the ground stays halfass warm and cars can get some traction...........

Really cool! I passed right by there on my way to Traverse City. It's off 127 isn't it? Looks like a sweet place to settle some street action without worry.
 
hey find out how long this last? i would love to get out there! look's like a lot of fun!

i have some stuff going on right now with the car it would be fun to go out there and try some 1/8 mile hits! i should have my car back in a week and it will be ready a few days after i get it back! maybe we can plan on heading out there 2 weeks from today?

were is it exactly is it located? i would have to map quest it to find it or my ass will be lost! lol

Lets do it in 3 weeks, cause I wanna go but I'll have to work in 2 weeks from today..
 
They ask for $15 to run your car, or $5 for spectator, but it is about the least spectator friendly setup possible. More like $15 for you and your car, $5 for each passenger hanging out. They really dont want a bunch of "spectators", they want people coming out who are going to run their cars. I know on the 27th of september, they are having a car show there, and were also sposed to have racing, but space is kind of non-existant other than the track, so it may just end up being a car show if alot of cars turn out. The starting area isnt super-visible from the road, but I know they try to not have a bunch of people hanging around up there, becuase they are trying to keep the powers-that-be happy within the township that actually let them do this thing. No bullshit I was making passes down the track with a horse pasture off to one side with horses 30 feet off of the track, and a corn field on the other side!!!! I was baffled how the cars dont scare the horses. They do ask that car that attend have mufflers, I did forget to mention that above...... They have talked about possibly having bleachers next year to make it a little more "spectator friendly"....... The surface isnt perfect, but it is good for an 1/8th mile at least, then it gets a tiny bit bumpy, but no worse than milan or any other peic of shit michigan road we have raced on before LOL........ Located 8 miles south of Mason off of 127, exit at the Leslie/Belvue Rd" exit, then west 2ish miles to the track..... It is kinda hidden so you can drive right past it and not even know it is there, I only knew cuz my buddy that went with me went last week.......... It seems pretty opeon to whoever, AS LONG AS YOU PM BAD BLACK Z for an invite..... I did hear they turned away 1 guy last week who showed up uninvited.......

This was a very cool little get together! Very friendly bunch of guys.
For reference, it took 1-1/2 hrs from Pontiac ( roughly 85 miles ).
The track surface is surprisingly good at speed. The starting line is a work
in progress but it's coming along. They would welcome more WELL BEHAVED
people. Jeff Cook, (BADBLACKZ) was my contact also. This is by invite only so if
you have an interest contact Jeff before making the trip.
And Rudy, always a pleasure my man! But no photos of my junk?

Haha yes always great to see you........!!! I know, I know, as soon as I started posting pics I said to myself, SELF, you are a fucking idiot. How did you not get any pics of Mark's car??!?!? LOL.... I guess it is because when I was actually taking pics, was the whole time you were up on the line for like 30 mins or whatever! SORRY SIR!!!!!!!!!!!!
