I have some Weld Draglites.. they are 15x8.5 with 4.5 backspacing. I'm wanting some M/T drag radials. What size do you guys recommend? I haven't rolled the lip or "massaged" the inner well at all and really don't want to. Any suggestions?

Mickey Thompson has a 255/60-15 that will fit that rim perfect. I've run low 1.5's 60 ft in an 88 notch so they hook for such a "little tire". The 27" tall is nice if you have the gear as its not too "race tire tall" for the notches. I've worn a pair out. :)

So the wheels itself is not right for the car? Shit man its one thing after another.I'm ready to just sell this bitch.

I very well be mistaken but I had always thought I was running a 4.5 BS Weld. I know they are 8" at least. This is with 275/50 15s. My fender lips were rolled for my street tires so these have no issue rubbing.

That looks like that tire is working great for you! I can see the wrinkle. :) What kind of 60's do you get? Very nice!

82coupe351, there is another tire that is pretty narrow the MT 235/60-15. It's 26" tall and will just fit an 8.5 wide. There are some set-up cars going stupid fast on them so they have potential too.

Not quite as good as it could be as I'm still learning how to make it work on them, but they are stinking BFG Drag Radials. I've been 1.59 a few times on these but for the most part it's very low 1.6's. They aren't quite as easy to hook as the MT DR's.

The tire you mention here is a GREAT tire, that is the tire I ran before having to switch to these. I ran them on these same wheels and was cutting mid-high 1.5 60s on those, but that was also with a much more aggressive launch technique (read clutch dumps) that didn't require so much clutch finesse to make them work. That 235/60 will also fit very easily without worrying about rubbing fender wells.

1.59 on a BFG in a stick car is excellent in my book! The new tires (MT, M&H, Hoosier) have made it much easier for many. Props to you!

Thank You very much! Like I said still learning these, the other guys are in the 1.4's but they also have a 100+hp over me at this point too.

Back to the subject at hand though; Like was stated before, if you're looking for a great tire that should fit without massaging the lips the 235/60 MT DR is hard to beat IMO, and those in the above mentioned 255/60 would probably be even better if you are geared for it and have the clearance. The 235/60's had less of a footprint than these BFG's yet still hook harder and more consistently.

If you've had MT ET Street bias plies on it before in the 26x10.50 variation then the 235/60's are damn near identical in size. On the other hand if you've ran the MT ET Drag in a "smaller" 26x10-15 then the 235/60's are smaller, yea, go figure.

No they didn't. But thsts ok I'm going a different route. I just have the wrong rim to work with. Thanks for all your help and it was nice talking to you yesterday

WTH? I didn't get a non-deliverable message for either of them. How about the one that was just text?

You too, good luck on the new direction.
