tinted tail lights

ive always mixed a couple drops of black paint into some clearcoat and sprayed the lights with a gun. you can adjust how dark you wanna go and be able to buff it and itll look good

I like the look on some cars. Some cars when there are blacked out looks tacky. From a safety stand point no. I also have a few friends who have been ticketed for it also. So all in all, i vote NO.

mine on my Charger were blacked out pretty bad. My mom complained that it was impossible to see my brake lights during the day. Steph got pulled over for them being tinted (cop ignored all of the tint on the windshield and other windows, who knows what that was all about) when she was driving it once. I like the look on some cars, but if you're just putting it on and that's all you're going to do, then it probably won't look good. If you tint the windows it will look better, but even then it may not go with the paint on the vehicle, and some vehicles just shouldn't be tinted.

Mine were spray tinted by DannyDodge. Did an excellent job, so PM him for a quote if you'd like to look at that approach.

i had mine blacked out as well but on a black car. same as stalked i have tint on all the windows and windshield and i also have blacked out headlight housings because i did a projector retrofit so the chrome was un-needed. i say go for it, you can always remove it. i went 2 years before i got a ticket and had to sand mine down.

I just used vht nite shades and clear coated them and only did 2 coats it looks pretty good not that dark but here are some pics I you dont like it you can sand it off and buff the lense out

I also had Danny tint mine on the Buick. They look great, but IMO not for a daily driver. I dont drive mine that often and been stopped twice. Both times MSP
Danny does great work if you still want them done.

I have had tinted lights on just about every one of my cars in the last 7 years never been pulled over for them, never even had it mentioned to me. I have had some completly blacked out but my new favorite is just a light tinit to give them a smoked look. I do a base clear method that really lets me control the tint very well.

Heres a few pics of varying shades, The Eclipse being the darkest, Dodge slightly lighter, VW, then Chevy lights being the lightest. I perferr to keep mine around what the VW lights look like.

If the tail light and filler panel blends nicely, then a black out is something I'd consider. For a mustang or truck (dodge ram, chevy pick ups, ford 150 etc) I'd do the mild/medium tinting unless the truck/car was black.

I like the eclipses and VW, because it would flow with the rest of the plastics.
