timing belt/chain

well with my new set up i will be running alot of cylinder pressue and that crank will have alot of strain on it. i am running currently a double roller chain. but was leaning towards a cog belt style. just wondering if anybody have has experience with them and reliability. just want some more info from personal experience.

I also thought belt drives were to help isolate crankchaft vibrations from the camshaft.

I've also heard belt drives on a small chevy can be a bad idea because there is few places the pressure from the crankcase can escape, the timing cover is one of those places. A belt drive set-up elminates the space for that to happen.

Personally unless it was a full race motor, I wouldnt go to a belt drive, but thats me.

Wouldn't a "quiet" gear drive give just as much accuracy in timing?

Use a comp billet chain and 3 piece cover. I doubt you'll be able to break that chain. Belts have issues without drysumping as some alluded to with venting the crankcase.

yes i have herd good and bad from both, thanks for all you input. i really dont know. if i run a belt i will run the jesel or the comp if not there is so many different gear. ne in particular that stand out from other?

I know of 2 engines with 15:1 + and around 780" gross lift running chains with no issues.. of coarse they are gone though once a year also. I would run a chain over a gear.. there are chains that have adjustment features as well.
