I heard about this today and tried it out. Go to the web page for the movie "The Messengers" >>>>>

Make sure your sound is on; click the ring tones down in the corner. They are inaudible to most adults. I can hear absolutely nothing when I click them, but my 17yo daughter and both of her friends could hear it immediately.

Proof that children and adults have different abilities. Weird! BTW, I am 44

I can hear it fine...that said, I am starting to hear those high pitched noises less and less. I used to be REALLY REALLY sensitive to them, now I can hear them ok, but they dont hurt my ears like they used to.

edit: I am 33

i can hear it, my mom's sitting like 4 feet infront of me on the couch and she can't hear it. thats fuckin weird.

I'm 27 and can hear it.. i've always had really good hearing. Now listening.. that's another story haha

heard it just fine, actually I can still hear it, its fucking peircing my head with the echo echo echo

sounds like right after you have left the club and you where standing to close to the stadium speackers and you can still hear the music thumping in your brain while your trying to sleep!

I can hear it too. It's kind of like the sound in the hearing test booth that you aren't sure if you should raise your finger for or not. I don't think I would hear it from my phone in my pocket though.

I can hear #1 but not #2. I couldn't hear the 17kHz ringtone that was going around a while back either. (I'm 29.)

I couldnt hear the 17khz tone a while back, but could hear both of those just fine in my right ear (much lower volume in my left ear).

I also had 4 12's in my VW bug with a Hifonics Zeus running them when I was 18 - 20. Then I spent several years on a Coast Guard cutter, where my hearing took a complete shit from the 24/7 engine drone.

it was hard to hear until I turned my Klipsch 4.1 speakers all the way up...and I'm 23. I just got home from The Ritz (it's a rock/metal bar) so that may be the reason...
