Thinking bout getting back in the toy car game

Sooo.... I haven't really had a "toy" car in a while. I'm debating if I want to get another one. I was really wanting a Cadillac CTS-V wagon (stick preferably) but those things are holding their value ridiculously well and I can't see paying $55k for a 5 year old used car even if it is likely a future collectible. I've always leaned toward the oddballs and/or sleepers so right now I'm considering these options:

1) Cadillac CTS V-sport - twin turbo V6 fun that I can daily drive year round if I buy winter tires for it.
2) GMC Syclone - I have wanted one of these for forever and the prices aren't too crazy. Looks like you can pick a decent one up for upper teens, low twentys. I'd have to do some research here to know what to look out for and also, it means I still need a DD that I'd be scraping snow off all winter. AS I've gotten older I've realized I like my spot in the garage.
3) A nice classic car of some kind. I'm not sure what but I tend to like the odd balls so it's probably not going to be something as common as a Camaro, Trans Am or Mustang. Maybe some funky AMC product? Rambler Scrambler? Rebel Machine? A Chevelle Laguna S3? 66-67 Chevy/Buick/Olds almost anything? Wildcat maybe? Some mid-70's unloved oddball but with a decent engine in it rather that the 160 hp 455 big block it came with?
4) Crazy idea car - Vega, Chevette or Monza with a modern turbo 4 banger? This will never happen because i don't have the skills to do the swap myself but it would be a pretty sweet oddball.

Option 1 is the one most likely to become reality. You can pick one up still under warranty for 30 -35K. Option 2 is the one I most want (aside from the CTS-V wagon I'll never buy) but there is no room for the kids and I've never taken the same liking to the Typhoon that I have the Syclone. Option 3 is the long shot possibility. I've always loved classic cars and would love to have my 66 Chevelle back or a nice 66-67 Nova but for the most part the prices of those cars have moved outside what I am willing to spend and I've sadly become accustomed to certain creature comforts most of these cars will lack. Option 4 has exactly a 0% chance of happening but is fun to think about because not too many people would be dumb enough to actually do it (apparently including me).

What do you guys think?

SCOTTY!!!!!!!!

A toy car can be stored elsewhere for winters so that gets your DD in the garage during S....n...O...w.... :puke:

You still love a boosted 4 banger because of that SAAB right? Maybe find another one of those and tweak it hard? STI drivetrain stuff?

I would like a 65 stang with an ecotec swap. Small engine bay would be hard to do coyote stuff..(I dont know if ford 2.3 ecoboosts are easy swaps either)

Get over to Woodward and see if anything catches your eye.

Coyote only fits if you do a mustang 2 suspension and remove the shock towers.

Chevy SS compares (in some ways) to the CTS-V Sport and is in the same price range. With an LS3 you could make it however fast you wanted and the manual transmission is an option on the '15 and newer models.

if you want a syclone, buy a non michigan /rust belt truck, spend a little more and get a STOCK one too many people dont understand them and mod them with dumb shit and hillbilly them up

Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm digging the Rambler. Just not sure I would want to go all the way to Wisconsin to check out a car I may not even buy. Plus, I'm guessing it is a tad on the slow side.

The 5th gen Camaros do nothing for me at all so that's out. I'd rather get a 6th gen if I was going that route.

I've definitely considered the SS and for a while GM was doing the 20% off new ones but now it seems like dealers are marking them up. It may sound odd but for comparable model year car, I'd take the Cadillac over the SS, especially since the Caddy is probably going to be the cheaper of the two. Although the SS is probably going to lose value more slowly. Hmm.

I have always loved GN's. I even talked my Dad into one back in the day. That being said, for a similar price I would rather have the Syclone. When is the last time you saw one cruising the streets? Sticking with the sleeper theme, I would probably take a T-Type over a GN but honestly any of the those three would be pretty sweet to own.

When was the last time you saw a fox body on the street? Fuck getting old sucks.

If you want anything vintage let me know. My brother does muscle cars as a main job.
He either has what you want or knows where one is. He loves the oddball stuff too.
