The Future of Michigan

Why don't we elect a Japanese guy to governor to attract new automotive to Michigan?:dontknow:

Because the governor doesn't have much control over job creation. If you wanted to add jobs you would abolish the unions that make unskilled employees too expensive.

The gov has alot to do with bringing jobs to Michigan.

When I am elected I will talk to many diverse companies and offer them attactive programs and incentives to bring them to MI and employ local people. I will also work with current companies and unions to make sure Michigan is supplying a strong and effective work force with the right qualifications.

VOTE VANFAASEN IN 2010

Governors actually do have a decent amount of pull. They can offer tax incentives, help facilitate building permits/expanions.

We (as much as I HATE to admit it) got a little nudge from Granholm early this year for our plant expansion. She helped with some permit holdups from the water department, and we hired ~100 more jobs she can brag about in her election campains... And when word of the possibility of building a whole new second site was discussed, we even had the governor of Kentucky up here putting offers on the table if we build it down there.

Though I agree about the organized labor thing, the governor still has at least some pull.

Those items are/have been done. There are companies in Michigan who were offered zero taxes and still left to go to Mexico. The era of $20-30 low skilled jobs are going away and people need to realize that isn't the governors fault. It's called globalization.

the governor calls that BLAME BUSH

I say if it's got a skirt lets go another term. If a person or a group of people want to eat chicken and chose to buy it from the farmer in the dell then so be it. If the chicken comes from the sea and the farmers have fields of dirt with dead chicken... then soo be it.
If you want to live on park place and leave your digs in Bloomfield hills then so be it!
Its freedom of CHOICE, you choose whats best for you, right???
Yes thats correct HRH!!
If the autocompanys can't build cars to sit on their huge paking lots without selling them and pay thier taxes, then they must do what "best" for them just like anyone esle would do. I just don't understand how jobs leaving this state is the fault of the state goverment, they [the goverment] don't sit on the board of directors at ford, gm or dcx, they [the goverment] didn't make the decisions too build this concept car or that concept truck.. the bussiness units "chose" where thewent and the direction they have taken was the path of thier CHOICE.
This is the home of the brave and land of the free....
I say if "we the people" can not open our eyes to these facts it is true what they say.... ....cast blame on those who stand closest within your circle!

lose the small business tax. I mean every other state in the nation did it years ago. Why does Michigan always have to be the last to catch up on economic responsibility.

The gov has alot to do with everything in Mi. The reason the state has issues is more than unemployment.

Issues
Detroit and Flint being 2 of top 3 most dangerous places!
Very high unemployment
Forclosures this year!
Wasteful spending
overall bad leadership! Problems start and Stop at the Top! Alot
of these things affect the states income which will lead to long term bad effects you might not realize for a few years.
and many others!

If you don't think the gov has an affect on these things your crazy!

During this campaign season the canidates have spent more time slamming each other then talking about how they chose to make things better!!!!

In my line of business the rule is you don't need to put down a competitor you just need to speak of why you or your product is better without saying negative things. This shows me they are bopth weak choices!

VOTE VANFAASEN 2010!

Because then we can't blame bush,

Really SBT is big, unions need to go, leadership needs to change:dontknow:

What to get rid of a lot of crime and unemployment cut all cut taxes, welfare benefits & shorten unemployment benifits. Sure it will spike in the short term but then either people will find jobs or move to a state that has them.

Well, it's evident that you are in the Jenny fan club. You are the ONLY person I know that has nothing bad to say about Granholm. OPEN YOUR EYES! Even hard core democrats that I know don't really like her. You & Jenny need to get a room.:pow:

It's my opinion that Grandholm is the better of the two candidates running for governor. That -certainly- doesn't mean I agree with all of her ideas and support all of her decisions. If the Republicans want my vote they'll need to come up with a much better candidate..

You have said nothing bad or disagreed with anything she has done or said on this board. Tell me what you disagree with then? I guess in your opinion it's ok to sit there and collect a nice sallary, and do NOTHING to earn it. Would you have voted for Kwame?
