Team z front coil overs with strange struts

Having a bit of a noise over larger cracks and bumps. Using single adjustable strange struts with strange coil over sleeves and 12/175 springs. Is this normal for coil overs?

I've been reading that the strut rod is a smaller diameter than the sleeves of the cc plates. Using team z cc plates.

If youre assembly is tight the slight diameter shouldnt be an issue. You removed everything that dampened noise from the front suspension. Just something you have to get used to.

There's been some discussion on using a 14" spring to move the strut further up in the stroke, thus allowing a bit smoother ride. I'm not sure on the correct spring rate# for the 14", but I'd be interested in hearing anyone's opinion on this. Thanks.

Btw, my son's '93 has 12/175's on it. Somewhat noisy and quite harsh best describe the ride.

My thought also. But I've kinda thrown nvh concerns out the window to a point

I experienced noise with mine from the spring rubbing on the collar from the coil over kit . Can't hear it over the engine, but pushing on the fender when parked you can hear it at times. I heard this is more common with 14" springs then with 12", because the 12" will have less side to side flex/bowing, and it moves the center of the spring higher above the body of the shock where the most movement would be.

Higher rates are intended for street use where as lower are intended for drag racing. Without a doubt, team z can give you a pretty good idea of what spring rate and length to run depending on the vehicle usage.

My 14" rubbed on the coilover body and @ 175# were way too stiff for my car. Mine make alot of noise as well, creaking and what not when turning
