Taking a uhaul trailer out of state?

So I might be picking a car up in Florida in the near future. Was going to drive down and rent a uhaul car hauler and just drop it off at the uhaul place by my house. Went online and it said it was going to cost $5xx to rent it in Florida and drop it off in michigan, but to rent it and drop it off at the same location is like $50 a day. Was concerned they may have odometers on the axle and hit me after the fact. I called two locations and one said it didn't matter where I went as long as I dropped it in the same place and the other said they can charge by the mile. Anyone have first hand experience?

I don't believe they track the miles. I have taken them out of state before and was just charged daily.

Took one to Indiana to pick up a motorcycle and never heard anything about mileage. They are pretty lenient with the trailers.

They don't track mileage on trailers. Two way rentals are WAY cheaper then one way. Just drive the empty trailer down there and bring it back.

I've done this over and dozen times. Just need to drop it at same location.

Just get it shipped. I just had a car shipped shipped from Maryland (DC area) to Detroit. Maybe you saw my thread on here about the 72 Fiat. Well, I calculated renting a trailer and gas plus wear and tear, it was only going to save me couple hundred to drive there and trailer it back here plus the time. To me it wasnt worth the wear and tear, plus who knows what might break down on the way here or back.

I called the company, they told me $600, I countered $500, they accepted on Friday, they picked it up on Sunday and I got it Tuesday. The car did not run or drive usually they charge more for that. I would have gotten it cheaper but they wouldnt have picked it up so soon.

This is the company I went with 2 J's Auto Transport Inc. 877-325-7288

^^^^ Sounds like a pretty good deal!

I've just read many horror stories about
folks & their car transport experiences,
good to hear a happy one.
