T5 whining?

My T5 whines in 1st through 3rd gear. It goes away almost entirely in 4th and 5th. This car was an auto with a T5 swap and the fit/finish work wasn't done. The lower shift boot is missing and the console and upper boot are loose (I can see the road when I drive). I have already eBay'ed these parts. I suspect that will quiet it down a decent amount...

Researching a bit online and I see some people saying it's normal, others say no...

Just FYI - if you want to rebuild your T5 it's pretty easy and cheap, there is a youtube step by step video... probably cost you $300 at most

I'm doing some research now. But it looks like there is also a nicer built one for sale from a reputable MM member as well. I might just go that route and swap them.

good deal, even while it's whining - it should last a decent amount of time, once the syncro's start to go then it's time to change. Me personally, I would drain it and throw some new fluid in....by the sounds of the for sale ad and obvious BS we spoke about, I'm willing to bet it could use a change

agreed.

Further down the thread, says it belongs to his buddy?
yet the car in his avatar previously belonged to the guy I got this Mustang from. He traded the 93 GT (that I currently have) and cash for that purple notch. Not sure what his line about it belonging to a buddy is all about.

It will only get worse, like rickety said the input shaft id probably wiped out. I've destroyed 2 t-5's and thats what they were doing was whining. I personally wouldnt put any money into a t5 unless you can get a good used one cheap. I'd go for a used tremec, especially if you plan on turboing it.

hes had the car in his avatar since we where in high school its dark blue. the gt was never his car.

do some research its was "MY FRIENDS OLD CAR" and he traded it to a guy who was gonna build it into a turbo car no telling what the guy who got it did with it but it was good when we had it

and the car in the avatar is midnight blue not purple your pretty quick to point fingers ive owned that notch since 03

thats the purple notch do some research before u talk about someone...it was 90notch306's car not mine see PURPLE not blue and that trans came off a member on here and shifted fine and never whined
Regardless, your associated and the ad was bogus, along with a few other things you have sold or tried to sell. Not to mention how you tried to take credit for the paint job on Joe P's notch (on facebook)

i didnt take credit for anything i told my cousin that my car was gonna be painted that color thats why i posted a pic i never said look i painted this and who did u hear this from?

and all because a guy who got the car and fucked the trans up dnt mean it was fucked before he got it he tested the car a few times before trading
