T3650 trans

Looking for a used next to free t3650 trans. I got a used one and had it rebuilt. After being rebuilt it is still not right. Something weird is going on with it. Keeps ripping up the brass blocker rings at about 200 miles. Builder thinks the case is twisted. Basically just need the case.

Anyone have any laying around?

I dont have one, but I will say I have never seen a case twisted. I have seen them crack (not a T3650, but others)

Im thinking more like a bent shift for (slightly bent) but enough to half engage/engage the blocker/syncro crooked and tear up parts.

I would agree... sounds more likely to be a bent fork. If you want to try a case I think I have a few.
 
I would tend to agree with you all too. However, this is the third time it has been FULLY rebuilt. Tech has replaced everything but the case. Same result every time. It never goes in third, or will go in and pop out... Pull it out and its torn up blocker rings after 200-400 miles.

I feel bad for the guy. He built the trans for me a few years ago. I have not been able to get it back correct. I'm very lucky he is willing to take it back under warranty. I bet he has 1000's of $$$ in it. Not the mention the labor he has put into it. Most people tell me to take it somewhere else and have someone else look at it. But I cant afford to pay someone else to pull it out and look at it.

Ultimately i have been unable to drive it reliably for 3 seasons because of this issue. Its going to push me to selling the dame car.

Where ya located? and what it going to take to get one? He just rebuilt it fresh with all brand new stuff except the case. put it back in car.. took it for a drive. Hard to get in gear, pops out, ETC. I think he just wants a different case to move everything to.


I just want my car back with a working trans I paid 2k for 3 years ago.

Define everything. Hve a prts list with part numbers?

Popping out of gear is caused by either:
Bad speed gear or Bad slider (or both)
Excessive end play
Bent or Worn Fork.

That transmission uses a shift rail/ Only other possibility is if the shift rails travel is limited.
They are overlooking something/ installed a wrong part or its assembled improperly.

I do not have a list of the parts he has replaced. Its possible i might be able to ask for that. I never looked that far into it. He is the professional...... ehhh, Maybe. He has told me every little last thing in the case has/was/been replaced. He thinks he has it figured out.. then... I pick it up.... 200 light driven miles.... Same thing. However, one time he asked me to keep driving it. So i put about 500 more miles or so on it. It did seem to feel better the more I drove it. But still want not right.

The guy is clueless what to do/try next. He has had it for 4 weeks now. Apparently has pulled it apart a few times. I'm sitting here like.... When can I get my car back?
