We have an 05 grand prix and i think either the front struts or the struts mounts are bad. Is there an easy way to check? Also anyone have any tips on replacing them? I'm used to changing shocks and the struts seem a little more difficult. Thanks for the help.

can you tell which side it seems to be coming from?

open the hood, and hold onto the top of the strut rod, then have someone bounch the front of the car pretty hard, you will feel the cluck in the rod if the sturt mount is bad(this is what it sounds like)

how would you go about holding the strut rod when it has a spring surronding it?

We sell a lot of struts for 03 and older GP's but not many on 04+ GP's. It is possible the mount went bad, just not used to seeing that on the newer ones.

Check the sway bar too. All the GP's, Regals, Centurys etc...the front sway bars are breaking. They are on national back order, and we have been selling shit out of those as well.

It could also be sway bar bushings/links. The whole sway bar could be cracked too. We see it on a lot of full size GM cars.

Didn't even realize you said that, but exactly. With American Axle back now they should start getting more out. We got one for a Regal the other day. It took about a week.

True...American Axle is the ones who were in charge of those. How much did you have to pay for a new one? We sold the last 6 out of 9 used ones for 100 bucks, and the last of those 3 today for 125 each. The customers were happy to get them, but unhappy they had to pay more than new...but they couldn't get new and they said we were the only ones to have used ones.

If I read that right, they're unhappy to be paying $100 which is more than a new one? Where are you getting your new ones? Our COST is considerably higher than $100.
