Stroker kits

Trying to decide between a SCAT kit and Eagle kit.. both kits have all forged internals :secret:. Only difference between the two is the SCAT kit is externally balanced and the Eagle Specialties kit is internally balanced. The SCAT kit includes the flexplate and damper.. while the Eagle kit doesn't. Price difference of almost $400 with the Eagle kit being more expensive.

I don't mind spending the extra money as long as it's worth it.. just looking for some opinions on which kit is better for the money... or just some feedback if you used any of their kits.

Go internal balance, almost all performance engines are internally balanced.

One big headache would be finding parts and assemblies for the external balanced engine. There is a lot more choices available for neutrally balanced engines as they are much more popular.

You may also find bearings to last a lot longer with internally balanced engines. It would also be a lot easier on the crankshaft harmonics and allow you to get some extra rev's out of your motor.

Here is my $.02,

I would also go with the internally balanced rotating assembly. I am assuming it is for a SBF -- The decreased internal vibrations will help in preventing the block from splitting which, happens to be very common in stock type 302 blocks producing over 500hp. I feel it is well worth the added cost.

Hell if he is running a stock blck just buy the cheapest crap ya can. the block will hang on about as long as the stock crank and rods will.

I totally agree with this. If it's a stock block, just fill it with junk. The Junk will outlast the block.

Your right. Good point.

The only risk he takes by using the stock rotating assembly is possibly hurting the head and valves when the block does let go. It's a long shot but, I have seen it happen unfortunately to me. It cost me some nice coin to have the combustion chamber welded and repaired.
I guess it depends if he has alot of money in the heads or not.

If that is the case. If it was my project I would put it on hold till I could afford a good block and rotating assembly. No point in spendinf 1/2 the money now to pay 2x the money later.
