I'm attempting to strip and undercoat the bottom of my Monte. Right now I'm using a 4" wire cup on a right angle grinder and I also have a 4" wire wheel to get into the frame recess area. I'm scraping what I can off and then running the wire cup over it, but I can't get everything with the scraper and the wire cup will smear anything I missed into a thin layer. On the frame, it wasn't that bad since it was mostly just one small area and I was able to use brake cleaner to remove the thin residue left behind, but there is a lot more surface area now. Any suggestions on cleaning up this thin layer of road grime?
Also, has anyone used one of those eastwood undercoating guns? The only reason I'm looking at them is because my dad also wanted to undercoat his truck. Otherwise I think I'm sticking to 3M aerosol cans.
Right now I'm just going to say that this was the worst job I've had to tackle on this project so far. I don't think I've ever been this filthy before.
