Wife and I went to cottage for a much needed r&r , got a call this morning saying my car was in accident. everyone is ok, her pos boyfriend was driving and left the scene on foot leaving her there alone. she is a troubled girl 20 & pregnant , been in trouble allot last few years. I feel terrible for my wife who is heart broken and feels so let down. I am going to report car stolen and let the shit fall where it may. what would you do? car is impound atm, i think drivable. Im pissed

Well...if they had the car without your permission I would call that stolen without a doubt. Let them learn a lesson about taking something that isn't your's.

If telling police it's stolen won't jack your insurance rates, then call the 5-0. Did the guy even have a license? He obviously didn't have a car of his own.
You wouldn't have to see him for a while if he left the scene as well as stole the car, maybe 6 months to a year or more. It might be what she needs to, he doesn't care for her otherwise he would have manned up & stayed to get what's coming to him.

my dumb ass sister and her pos boy friend did the samething, my mom had to report it or the insurance would NOT cover it. it got ugly for a bit but it all worked out in the end. good luck!!

Is the 20 year old pregnant daughter of your wife living at your home along with the car-thieving boyfriend or is it just her?

Talk with your insurance company - you might have to report the car as stolen to avoid liability from the accident.

you gotta be carefull though. if you report it stolen you could very well drive her even further down the wrong path in life. it is a tuff call to make. i wouldnt want to have to be the one making that decision. good luck hope it all works out.

I say contact a lawyer and get them to set you on the right path.

This is one of the things where everyone involved could be in trouble.

I think a little money up front could save you and them a lot of money and headache later on.
