Tonight's "HBO Real Sports" will feature four former Auburn players who say that they received money from Auburn, Ohio State, LSU and Michigan State.

Four former Auburn football players claimed they received thousands of dollars of cash from boosters from a number of schools on an HBO special that airs Wednesday night, according to the website Sports by Brooks.

The players, Chaz Ramsey, Troy Reddick, Stanley McClover and Raven Gray, alleged they received money as part of a pay-for-play scheme during their time at Auburn. None played there more recently than 2007.

"Somebody came to me, I don't even know this person and he was like, 'we would love for you to come to LSU and he gave me a handshake and it had five hundred dollars in there," McClover said in the HBO special, an advance copy of which was obtained by Sports by Brooks. "That's called a money handshake ... I grabbed it and I'm like, 'wow,' hell I thought ten dollars was a lot of money back then."

McClover told "Real Sports" that boosters from Auburn, Michigan State and Ohio State also arranged for him to get cash and other enducements such as sexual services. He originally committed to Ohio State but switched his commitment to Auburn after he received cash to change his commitment. On that occasion, he said the cash was delivered in a bookbag.

"I literally passed out I couldn't believe it was true," the HBO transcript quoted McClover as saying, according to Sports by Brooks. "I felt like I owed them."

"Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel" reports the NCAA declined interview requests, Auburn declined to comment, and all schools named in the report declined any wrongdoing.

Also in the interview with HBO, Ramsey said Auburn boosters would approach him after games, and that they would give as much as $300 to $400 a game. He said that before he arrived at Auburn, a booster gave him spending money during his junior college career.

The former Auburn offensive guard said he accepted more than $5,000 in cash from boosters, but that he has since taken a stand against the practice. "I'm not out to get anybody, I want high school athletes to know what they're getting into," he told HBO.

Oh, but Michigan players "practice too much"

cant spell hostess without Ho Michigan had the fab 5, same thing boosters paid players to come there yes every school does it just who gets caught

That along with pay recruits and do what ever is needed to win.

sorry but i have to disagree, im a huge U-M fan and bro they dont have anyone on this team worth paying..they have along road back to respectability, You always here rumors about OSU and other schools about paying players and with OSU it looking more and more thats its true, never do you here these type of rumors at U-M (football) basketball is another story lol, hell i hate MSU and never heard that about them either ,they just like to play felons lol

You dont think the boosters tossed Denard a bone to stay in Ann Arbor..... I bet they did.

Um no, he not that good of a player , i bet gardner wins the qb position by week 5,just a hunch ,he better suited to play the pro style that will come back to Michigan, denard more of a rb/wr type, a play maker ,hes not a qb .

That's beside the point. Every school are the ones who lately have been pointing to UM saying how dirty they are because they practiced long.

Yep.

And no, I don't think anybody tossed Denard anything to keep him here. I have seen enough of his interviews and the way he conducts himself to believe that he's a good kid. Time may tell, I may be proven wrong, but I don't think so. In my humble opinion, I think a lot of these kids are pretty easy to judge based on the way they act.

Now Forcier... that's another story.

Lol the "Do-no-wrong" University of Michigan attitude at its best.

Mark, He may not seem good to you but at the right school he would surely be a star QB ( Oregon ), I mean he broke the rusing/passing reccord for a QB thats impressive.

I read through all of those posts as well as all others in this thread and not once did I see anyone imply or directly state that the U of M has done no wrong. The closest it got was mark saying that the U of M never even seems to have rumors going about being dirty.

Lol the whole thread is trying to show how other schools "cheat" more the Michigan. You guys are trying to justify that practicing more isnt a violation because other schools are getting caught paying players. Cheating is cheating.

he will never be a pro qb ,the spread is all washed up ,kid cant throw , run yes ,throw not. all his big plays came from his legs and most big passing plays where 10 yard passes that the smurfs made into huge gains.. Hell look at cam newton some pro scout said they would not draft him to 3-5 rounds..and he is way better than denard.

yeah what he said. some schools always have rumors about them and others do not ,

Practice too much? yeah, you're right. That was bullshit.

well.....they could surely use the extra practice. i'm sure we can all agree on that........

this whole witch hunt is a joke. as if just a few schools do this sort of thing. maybe it's time we revamped the whole "college experience" philosophy....:dunno:

That doesnt mean he isnt a good college QB, Vince young won a national championship with his legs. Cam Newton did it, Tim Tebow did it. All these guys are subpar NFL QB's but were great college Qb's

Yes because obviously saying that the rules we broke weren't as bad as others (espeically to those who villianized the U of M for extra practice) is exactly the same as saying U of M does no wrong.

Cheating is Cheating!!!! LOL you guys crack me up thinking Michigan is some role model University when it comes to college athletics.
