Woa how did I miss this one? I just booked my Lake Charlevoix campsites this morning and thought of what the hell are we going to do for St Ignace.

Please read the next paragraph carefully

The KOA is a nice campground, I have been there some years back with my family. The problem with the KOA, Mill Creek, TeePee and all the other private campgrounds up there are YOU CANNOT RESERVE SPECIFIC SITES. You can request what you would like, but in the end they'll do what they want with you. They will also ALWAYS give preference to regulars first, which we are not. They might be a little looser on the restrictions, but thats not going to stop complaints from other campers when certain drunks cannot control their volume. With the state park we can reserve sites together and isolate ourselfs. We might be able to get lucky like that at another campground but who knows. Every time i've called a private one up there they can never give me a definite answer, no matter how early I am willing to pay in advance, they will assign campsites when we arrive. We stayed at Mill Creek in 2005 and they were about ready to throw us out because my car was loud (at idle!). And they had staff/security in golf cars go by every 5 minutes. The st park never harassed us for our cars, only talking too loud. And they only walk around once in ahwile there.

Maybe you guys want to take a shot at KOA or something this year, I don't really care. I'm pretty much down for whatever. Or maybe we should do half and half to see what works better this year.

thats the same thing i said. If i was to go again..i wouldnt waste my time or gas money bringing the car.

Should just drive it, its reliable. Half the fun of going up there is driving the car. Although its always nice to have a trailer. I know Rob will always trailer, and so will Jacko cause he has no OD.

I'm ok with the Straits again this year and I want to be able to pick ut specific sites.

All in favor to booking the Straits again this year say "I."

I!

The car show is the bonus for me.. The camping and hanging with friends is what i go for.. Show's getting smaller each year because people can't afford to take those weekend trips anymore.

x2

You get to mix some cool things together, camping, being up north, and cars all into one vacation. I would never pick St. ignace as a place to just go camp if the car show wasn't there, and would never go up there just to see the car show for the day without camping.

Would it be worth bringing my jet ski if I was to attend? Is there any place to ride? Would there be any 'downtime' to ride? :dontknow:

Not really. I've always wanted to bring mine up, but doing camping and car stuff pretty much takes up the 3-4 days there. It would be a cool place to ride for sure, from St ignace to Mackinac city to the Island and back. Its usually kind of chilly when we go up (65-75*) except for one year when it was in the 90's. Maybe one year i'll put a hidden hitch on the Formula and do it. :D

is there alot of hot peices of ass up there?

Yea, but we usually bring our own. And then what usually happens is..... ahh nevermind :flashboob

Like I said I'm down for whatever. But maybe some of the guys (Jamie, Jeff ect) who want to check out KOA should get some sites there too and we'll compare. It's not like we can't just go overthere and hang out and vise versa.

I think we should take 220, 221, 222, 223, and 224, right now. 220, 222, 223, and 224 all have no one behind them.

hey jonny..what about those site that are to the left when you drive in....they seem pretty far away from the main office...and also remember that the DNR office was right behind i think rob and dans site..right down that 2 track.
just a suggestion..either way let me know ASAP, as to what site to get...probably would be better to call me cause im getting ready to go back to the hospital today and ill be there tomorrow too.
