just thought I would try here before hitting up the dealer

I need one for a 4.10 with a 91 automatic trans ( I think its the black 23 tooth)

I have an extra 1, I got it from the ford performance place on Groesbeck (cant think of the name right now). I think they get $28 for them now...if you want the new 1 I have it's yours for $10.

the most teeth on an oem gear is 21. red gear. part # C4OZ-17271-A. 5-6$. we stock a 23th a/m gear for $15. the aod has the "drive gear" machined into the output shaft, so there's no changing that. check the gear (teeth) you are now using. figure out how far you're off, and figure 5-6 mph per tooth added. i'd say the 23th is probably what you'll need. there's a formula somewhere, but i'm not that scientific....:cheers:

Once you change the gears in your differential, you need a new speedometer gear to recalibrate your speedometer. They're inexpensive, and only take a few minutes to change.

These Recalibration Gears fit 1979-1998 Mustangs. Please check our Hot New Product Section for information on 1999 and 2002 Mustangs.

Instructions: Note transmission type, model and resulting drive gear. Cross reference with your rear-end gear ratio to find the correct "recalibration" gear for your application.

i've seen a reducer used to cal' it correctly. still need to see what you've got. if it's 16-17 then the 23 should get you a ton closer....

I used the 23 tooth black one as well and it is much closer now, only like 5mph off. It will never be perfect on the AOD with the 4.10.
