For all who Know Motorcycle Riders ...... I saw you hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But you didn't see me put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday. I saw you pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk. But you didn't see me playing Santa at the local mall. I saw you change your mind about going into the restaurant. But you didn't see me, attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief. I saw you roll up your window and shake your head when I drove by. But you didn't see me, driving behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window. I saw you frown at me when I smiled at your children. But you didn't see me when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless. I saw you stare at my long hair. But you didn't see me and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love. I saw you roll your eyes at our leather coats and gloves. But you didn't see me and my brothers donate our old coats and gloves to those that had none. I saw you look in fright at my tattoos. But you didn't see me cry as my children where born and have their name written over and in my heart. I saw you change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere. But you didn't see me going home to be with my family. I saw you complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be. But you didn't see me when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane. I saw you yelling at your kids in the car. But you didn't see me pat my child's hands, knowing he was safe behind me. I saw you reading the map as you drove down the road. But you didn't see me squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn. I saw you race down the road in the rain. But you didn't see me get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date. I saw you run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time. But, you didn't see me trying to turn right. I saw you cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in. But you didn't see me leave the road. I saw you waiting impatiently for my friends to pass. But you didn't see me. I wasn't there. I saw you go home to your family. But you didn't see me. Because I died that day you cut me off. I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family. But, you didn't see me. Repost this around in hopes that people will understand the biker community. If you don't repost this, It sucks to be you. I hope you NEVER loose someone that rides

huh, maybe skip wearing the Hells Angles leather vest next time you go out and people won't be scared of you.

Does not matter what you wear, you can have a jacket on with a picture of God and they still look at you funny, just like everyone assumes anyone who rides a crotch rocket rides crazy, I ride one and dont clown on it but everyones first opinion is that I am reckless because of what I ride.

This is about the most asinine post i've seen....For one..Leather isn't for "Fashion" it's for saftey...Obviously you dont ride or else you would have known that...And most guys with harley's (Myself included) have loud pipes so we are heard by idiots on cellphones and old people that dont give a shit...And what I find funny is most guys in Motorcycle clubs are great guys.....even some of the most hardcore 1% clubs do ALOT of shit for their community...I used to be in a Motorcycle club and in our clubhouse we had MANY MANY plaques from Boy Scouts,Local FD,Local businesses thanking us for our support and help in fundraisers.....So to you i say Kiss my ass...and keep thinking about bikers like that...Cuz if by some some chance god forbid you have an accident....It may be a biker that might just save your life

Great post, Im suprised there havent been more people hit and killed by all of these dildos texting while driving, ive even seen people reading books or the newspaper while driving. Not to mention the blue hairs that cant see over their steering wheel driving down the road with their mouths wide open drooling. I do see where the negitive comments come from though due to the large amount of wanna-bees that do act like assholes when they throw on a vest, but most people arent like that that ride. I had my harley for about 10 years before i screwed my back up, never got into the leather vest thing and claiming that and the pipes were for saftey since it wouldnt convince anyone because none of us even wore DOT helmets if we wore them at all, I think the only guys that were concerned with saftey were the guys on rockets and touring bikes, and none of them wore leather.

I never used the broad term "Leather"...I said Vest. If a Vest is a "safety issue" as you put it then what do you propose to do with your arms when you dump your bike over?

What my post was suppose to point out was that people will stereotype based on a appearance.....either get used to it or change the way you appear.

SO these people should change thier appearance/style/fashion just to make you feel better? How about peeling your head out from under the prehistoric rock it's under and realize the world doesn't revolve around you. Maybe these guys think you shoulnd't wear polo's and dockers becasue it makes you look like a geek and they dont like the way geeks look? Is that pocket protector really a safety thing?? I bet you support socialism?

THi post is a bit overdramatic, and just meant to point out somehting, and not intended as an "internet tough guy" post to start some shit. Just stuff like this makes me laugh.

Not making me feel better....I'm not the one who wrote the above piece about how great the stereotypical Harley dude is......

Its society...you can't change the preception unless we were all blind. If you don't dig getting akward stares and are bummed out about prejudgement which as bikers you must be or someone wouldn't have posted the initial statement, then either do something about it or don't worry about it.

I guess I just felt like I was suppose to feel sorry for Joe Harley or Fred Davidson because people are afraid of them.....why is that my problem.

You can argue your point all day long....But the funny thing is...This whole thing wasnt about the awkward looks and sterotypes is was about idiots that text,Rush,Dont signal,Look in their blindspots while driving and kill innocent motorcyclists everyday....not only harley riders...But EVERYONE that rides a motorcycle knows the feeling and reason behind this story....
