I'm going to buy one of these pairs tonight. Can any of our resident audiophiles take a look and advise on which pair? These will be used for my rear channels. I was reading reviews and someone mentioned the 5 1/4" ones will aim sound in the direction they are pointed, and the 4" ones will broadcast the sound wider. Just what I read off a review. However I have no idea what I'm reading as far as speaker design and technical specs. Thank you to anyone who takes the time to look at these and help me. Will purchase one or the other tonight.

Buddy of mine got a pair of thr 502s over the weekend and they sound ridiculously clean. Would probably get the 8s for the additional bass response but damn are they a fantastic sounding speaker for the price especially since they're powered. Hook an Echo Dot up to them for the best streaming/Bluetooth system you'll ever find for $200.

Your choice should depend on what sort of sound you're aiming for. I can somewhat tell by the crossover points how they'll sound as I've owned Klipsch Reference speakers in the past. The R-15M will have a more in your face sound compared to the 14M due to it using the horn for most of the midrange. A horn mid can be nice, if that's your thing. It isn't bad by any means, but it will sound markedly different from the 14M. The 14M has a much higher crossover point, so the mids will primarily come from the cone. The cone will have a more laid back sound, and again, not a bad thing. My preference is a more forward midrange, as that's where the magic lies so to say. A cone can have a more forward mid, too, but that usually occurs in larger midrange drivers that are played at too high a frequency.
