Some progress on my 1972 Camaro SS

A lot of you don't remember this car, or even know that I had it. It's a 1972 Camaro SS that I got when I was 15 years old. My dad and I worked hard day and night transforming it from a stock turd into a decent street car. Well, we got it done, and it was out for a couple years, until something stuck inside of the trans, and all of the fluid came out the vent tube, and it caught the car on fire. It was burnt from the front seats foward. After it happened, the car kind of got put in the corner and forgotten about for a long time. It wasn't totalled, but it was just far enough gone, that there was no motivation of seeing it ever back together. Well, as of lately, I've been on a real kick to get it back together. It's been a father and son project from day one, and it means a lot to me. So I'd love to be at opening day at Milan this spring.

Here's a couple before pictures.

The last couple nights, we've made some good progress getting it back together.

Thanks to Trigger's help, we got the motor back in, bolted the Coan TH400 and Continental converter up, and the trans lines done. We still have to wire the MSD tomorrow, and set the valves, then it should be ready to fire up.

Here's some pictures from last night/tonights progress.

Awesome! Glad to see you overcame the setback, that would have made most people quit for good. Congrats on a nice ride!

Thanks guys!

Got a little progress today. Went up north to NPD and picked up a set of new fenders, and a TH400 crossmember. Got the fenders on, started to plumb the fuel system. Got the Aeromotive regulator mounted, and started running the lines. Also mounted the radiator, trans-cooler, and electric fan.

Fuel system consists of:

12 gallon fuel cell
Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump
Aeromotive 100 and 10 mircon filters
-10 feed line
Aeromotive bypass regulator
-8 return line
-6 feed from regulator to carb
-4 to FP

Well, I'm about ready to put this thing back in the corner and cover it up, where it's sat for years.

My father and I got the fuel system done, and turned it on to set fuel psi, and the rear float in the carb hung open, and filled the motor with gas, and it hydrolocked, and pushed the gas out through the #4 cylinder. FML, tore it back apart, getting a new set of head gaskets, putting studs in this time, and hopefully fixing the carb issue.
