Slipping 93z28 auto Trans

Okay so I just picked up a 93 z28 but it has a slipping auto trans. I am inbetween jobs right now so upgrading and such is not an option at this point. Any suggestions on this? Should I look for a decently priced used one or is there any way that is reputable that could rebuild it for me and not charge an arm and a leg? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need this car running without having to spend a ton :( I hate the economy in MI causing me to get laid off...
 
did you check the fluid?

i think those still had the 700r4 in 93 you should be able to get a decent one for about 100 to 200 i just sold a high milage good working one for a 100
 
I will be checking the fluid sometime this week when the snow stops. I also will be calling Rich ^^ Monday to see what he can offer to help out too. Only other thing I have to do on the car is change the water pump which is relatively cheap and easy to do...I hope.
