shock length

ok wifes truck is lowered 6 inches in the rear. and I need to find a shock I have the measurement of the distance between the mounting points, and monroe has a handy catalog with measurements but the question is do I want the shock to be fully extended when installed or compressed a inch or so? the shock has 4-5 inches total travel.

yup

however, you DO NOT want the shock to be the travel limiter

you don't want the shock to fully compress at full suspension compression, have about .5" more travel there

and you want the shock to be slightly longer then full droop, again, .5" more travel


example, full compression is 20, full droop is 32, travel is 12, you want a shock with a compressed length of 19-19.5, extended length of 32.5-33, for a travel of 13-14

some applications have shock-drop brackets so you can use stock length units

Nope it will be tonight gotts fab the brackets for the sway bar while im under there , and pull the cladding for paint
