Shifter detent plate conversion

I want to keep the factory Horseshoe shifter and console in my 72 Chevelle but would like the positive locking shifts of a aftermarket shifter. I found a detent plate from Shiftworks ($75) and wondered if anyone has tried it or other refer other companies that have something like it.
 
Ive installed quite a few. They work ok, not great.
Your shifter is not going to feel any different than it does now....just a extra notch for your overdrive.
The geometry for the steering collum key/lock and dash indicator (some models like camaros) are off.
They are close, but not perfect.

No overdrive or dash indicator. This is the floor shifter and the detent is for a postive stop from going from 2nd into neutral when manual shifting. I would hope it would feel different?
 
just disasemble and weld in a stop...i modded my horse shoe so i could slap shift the 1-2 with a rmvb ..dont have to pull up on the center till I shift to hi gear ...before when i let the tb go with the lever pulled i would shift to high gear because of the inertia ...

I thought about modifying it before I seen that conversion plate. I have the same problem with inertia with this bigblock. LOL. I just like the stock shifter look but it needs to have more function.
