Shelby GT vs. 08 STI

why a mustang, they should have chosen a new vette its a much more comparable car.

Are you on crack?

Vette = $50,000 2 seater with 400hp

STi = $35,000 4 seater with 305hp

Mustang = $35,000 4 seater with 315hp

How is a Corvette a "much more comparable car?"

I mean... you guys understand that the point of a comparison test is to take vehicles that are similarly priced... and see which one performs better. Not to find an American car that performs better, regardless of price... right?

i thought the sti was closer to 40? but i didnt know and u can get a vette for 43 i think.. maybe a lil less... so my bad

Shelby GT = overpriced GT w/ cold air intake and axle back exhaust.

Get a GT, spend that difference in performance mods, and walk an STI :)

Either way, the Mustang and STi are much closer for comparison sake than the Vette and the STi. Both the STi and Shelby around probably right around $38,000.

Some people just can't handle seeing an import whoop up on a domestic.

i no problem with any import whooping a ford.

i'd like to see how close an srt4 caliber would come for considerably less. damn when is chyrsler going to get real, and make that thing awd, i mean they already sell the r/t awd?

1. srt4 has no shot against the STI
2. chrysler will never have an awd srt4 because it is on a mistu chassis. it runs a 2.4 litre turbo 4. mitsu uses the sam chassis for the evo and needs to run a 2.0 to use it in wrc and other rally events. not to mention that running to awd would make a significant jump in price for the srt4 and at that point an STI or EVO would be a better car.

The new STI comes in around $34k, 18" bbs wheels are $2k, nav is $2k but requires bbs wheels. Personally I like the idea of a performance car that can tow, haul, run much harder on twisty roads (awd), and be used year round. :gr_grin:

It has nothing to do with the price on the car. We could of offered the SRT-4 Caliber in AWD and still came in 5-8grand less then the other 2. It was all about packaging and reliability. If we had tried to get through all the issues the car wouldn't come out for another year or 2. We were working on the next generation to be AWD, but the platform is under review right now because of our "financial position". Hopefully will get it right next time.

Their alright but I like the previous year Subi better.

+1

But this chassis is more rigid and will allow subaru to do much better in the WRC. It is still currently the largest chassis in the sport, so all the little bastards can make the tight turns much easier. Seriously, who wants to loose to citrion? :lol:
