Seen something wild last night

The wife and I were driving back from the movies in GR last night. I'm all the way in the right lane going N on 131. I see two sets of headlights jump up in my back window and next thing I know I have two pretty nice looking Corvettes fly past me at probably 100-110. They get about 20 lengths in front of me and I see something white fly up in the air doing somersaults. I guy on the right slams on his brakes and pulls to the side. As we pass I look in my mirror and his passenger is standing up in the car and filming back down the highway. His roof flew off!!! :jawdrop2: WTF!? Come on GM! I've heard of some stuff happening because of cheap parts but roofs flying off? :gr_jest:

that would soil my pants. My ex girlfriends mom had a white thunderbird and someone unscrewed the hardtop on her and it did the same thing to the e-way. I've heard of a few stories of F-body guys forgetting to latch their T-tops and losing those suckers too!

There is a recall for that actually. The early C6's had a problem with it. GM recalled 20-30k 'vettes because of it. It was defective foam adhesive I think.

Either way, I'd shit my pants if it happened to me. I've heard of guys launching their ttop fbodies so hard the glass shatters too. I don't have to worry about that with my 12 second turd!

My M/C wasn't fast enough to lose a t-top, although I'm sure they make a racket when they hit the ground at 110 MPH.

i remember that on the c6 z06s alot of them were losing the panel because of bad adhesive, i lost the t top on my camaro twice. the first time it broke and i didnt notice because it was dark and both windows were already down lol. the second time i almost grabbed it in time, but it landed off the road and was ok.

Was is the whole roof panel, or the interior trim ? Z06 doesn't have a removable roof.

I am not surprised though. My 08 C6 with 550 miles had that cover panel peeling off. Interior quality on the vette sucks. I cut myself on the sharp edge of the trim panel in one of the storage bins in trunk. That is all. All the money is in the drivetrain. Long way to go for GM. I hope the 2010 GS will be better ;)
