Is there a trick to replacing them or what. ive been through 3 sets in like 2 weeks,i cant seem to put them on right. i dont get it, i use the felpro cork 5/32", then i tryed the 7/32", still leaks. i used the blue silicone then switched to the ultra dark? im going crazy. maybe im putting the silicone on wrong? please any help will help me out.

I suggest putting them on dry. Let the gasket do its job and be a gasket, save the silicon for another time.

which valve covers? chrome? plain steel? aluminum? Fabricated? If steel are you using the load spreader bars? how tight are you making them?

yea i have steel ones , and use the hand turned bolts with the load spreaders, i turn them as tight as i possibly can, i figured tighter the better.

have you dimpled the valve covers ? I personally don;t care for the stamped steel pieces anymore. the cast covers are not that much more money and they seem to leak alot les.

I barely tighten steel valve covers, it seems like barely snug is best, but it has probably already bent the covers. Get a new set and start over

i always hand tighten then run it for a day or two then re tighten them, if you over tighten they will push the gasket out and leak, and i always use them dry, hope this helps, spreaders are a plus to, make sure you dont have them upside down, they should have the crown of a sad face when you put them on
