i know this is the wrong spot for this type of ? but the pub gets the most action!

found a pic of this truck on racing junk! i like how the cage is but would it be legal going thru the box like that? or would it have to be tied in the halo to be legal?

reason for asking planning on a cage this winter for my slow10 but i won't to keep my bed cover!

Oh and we created the "Chassis Shop" just for Team Z. Dave answers questions there pretty much on a daily basis

Even with bars off the halo you can still keep whatever bed cover you currently have (leather or fiberglass). You just have to cut channels into it for it to lift up. Lightning guys do it all the time.

Structurally the way that cage was done is just plain stupid IMO. The main hoop must be supported. Otherwise you have a relatively easily collapsable structure.

The rear bars have to go to the top of the main hoop to be legal. The way that guy has his going to the main hoop crossbar in that pic is not structurally sound. It is also very dangerous to the passengers if the vehicle suffered a rear impact (just look where the rear bars are pointed towards).

That probably would not pass cert for NHRA or IHRA but if it was an extended cab it could be done without going through thr upper part of the cab, we have done a couple dakota's that have passes and the back bars did not exit the upper back of the cab!
