how do you tell if its rings or valve seals that are bad without ripping apart the motor ? my car doesnt smoke at idle or on light acceleration but if i get on it pretty good she start pouring out bluish greyish smoke , it just started doing it after my oil change ( 10w30 pennzoil ) ,., im hoping its valve seals because i plan on doing a 306-308 build this summer and if its my valve seals ill just throw a set of E7s on it to get me buy till i build a new motor

burning a little oil aint worth a head change if you plan on a total rebuild soon. So leave it alone. ANd if it just started after an oil change and never did it before...id change oil again to something NOT penzoil. Mobile 1 is only 18 bucks or so at walmart....

mobile 1 is what i used sorry , pennzoil was my last oil change when i 1st got the car ,., its not a little oil either , if i get on it she pours it out ( james bond style smoke screen lol )

and that will tell me if its valves or rings ? i know about a compression test but it seems that would only tell me what CYL is leaking and not if its rings or valves , i think ? lol

Yes, that will tell you how well the rings are seating to the cylinder wall. If you have a lot of leak down odds are oil is getting past the rings and into the combustion chamber. If you have low leak down then your oil is getting into the combustion chamber from elsewhere.

its not over full on oil is it?

i thought about that , no its not over full thow ( i wish it was that easy lol ) ...... ill check the PCV tomorrow ( its supose to rattle aint it ? ) .,. ill check easy stuff 1st , i guess i just always assume the worst
