Refinishing Carbon Fiber?

Captain Slow
Any tips/tricks to this? Common problem with the Evo is the gel-coat on the carbon spoiler lifting/yellowing over time. My spoiler has a couple of spots on top and I was hoping a local shop could refinish it. However, I was wondering before I go to them if there is any advice I can give to get all the bad stuff off without damaging the carbon weave underneath? Anyone handle anything like this before or have any ideas on how to approach a job like this? Again, it'd be a professional shop doing the work, but figured if I could help in any way I would...I really don't want to have to buy a new spoiler or go another route.

Thanks for any advice...if this needs to be moved to another section I'll understand.

Any Chevy dealer should be able to handle this. Certain Corvette models have Carbon-Fiber fenders and hood.

Traditional clear coat over carbon fiber is very susceptible to UV rays and will eventually yellow and peel again. GM uses a special clear for the bare panels like you would see on the ZR1, the same clear is also used on the carbon wheels that are on the new GT350
