rebuilding rear brake calipers

Out of the blue, one my rear calipers decided to start leaking. I havent been able to take the wheel off and check it out, but from what Ive seen so far, it looks like the leak is coming from the parking brake area on the caliper. The spring is dripping and the banjo bolt is dry.

The caliper is powdercoated and thats the only reason why I would want to rebuild vs buying a reman one and having that powdercoated again.

Has anyone here tore apart their calipers before to rebuild? Is the job relatively easy or will it be better to save my time and just buy a reman? Ive taken the pistons out before when they were powedercoated but never the entire parking brake system.

What kind of vehicle? Some e-brake springs are BRUTAL to put back on. So proceed with caution.

The e-brake spring on the 99-04 rear calipers are a major PITA. You might want to just redo the powdercoating.

I dont know if you have fixed it yet but Cambro Calipers in Harrison township right next to Selfridge Air Base can rebuild your cores.
