RAM TRX unveiled 702hp

I've got a Crew Cab and the bed is surprisingly big. The bed length on my 2018 extended cab was 6'6". This one is 5' 8", not terrible.

The turbo 2.7L 4 banger how ever.... yikes.

The 5'8" bed can't even fit 8' dimensional lumber in diagonally. For 8' sheet products you might as well bring a trailer because it's probably easier than trying to figure out a way to fasten in whatever you want to keep in the bed of the truck. Anything 10' or longer just forget about it.

The crew cab with the 6'6" box is a bit unwieldy to drive. The rear tires don't track anywhere near where the front ones did (the ever growing ECSB CCShortB wheelbase is 147 and the CCStandardB is 157). It doesn't fit in parking garage spaces and you might as well forget about parallel parking anywhere. At that point you might as well get a crew cab long box because if you're going to park in two ZIP codes you might as well have a bed that is useful.

That was a parts bin truck but it was cool. You can still get an F150 regular cab but it has the 6 1/2' bed with a V8. It would be nice to see that available with the 5 1/2' bed though, then being able to build your own (aftermarket) Lightning.

6.5’ bed is considered a short bed for a standard cab truck. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a 5.5’ bed on a 2 door truck. It would look hilariously short. The short bed on my regular cab s10 was 6’.

I know in the mid 2000s ford offered their extended cab f150 with a 5.5’ bed and it was super ugly. GM offered the same but they’re very hard to find, I’ve only seen one on the internet and the bed looked super odd being that short with an extended cab rather than the full 4 door.

Don't get me started! It's even worse when you see this not happen when you are close to it! I thought GM scored last year when they released an stripped SS model - they took a base LT car and put the LT1 into it. I don't see why they couldn't put the LT4 into a base SS. I think that would SELL! Right now you have to have a ZL1 to get the LT4 and you have to pay for the mag ride and all the other bells an whistles.

I used to work there too, and was walked out in the purge of February 2019. Yup awesome cost effective ideas like Maven, the ebike, etc.... lol yup good ideas

SCSB (which is not even an option anymore) Silverado with the 6.2 in 2WD and factory 20's.:wank:

The F-150 tremor was the last truck that even came close to a sport truck.

Yes! Also, as mentioned, you can get a rcsb f150 with a 5.0 and build your own. Don’t forget about the Ram RT. They were still available after the Tremor.

The turbo 2.7L 4 banger how ever.... yikes.

Better then Fords 2.7L v6 and they sell the mess outtta them. Most people use their trucks as mini vans.

Yeah a guy at work has a RCSB with the 5.0. Pretty cool.

GM's 4 banger in better? I havent driven the 2.7 V6 offering, but its hard to imagine anything worse. It feels like its always struggling, and the mileage has been poor.

Yeah, the GM 2.7L is almost like a little diesel engine. Think about it, large piston displacement, smallish turbo, it has high torque which comes on at 1200-1300rpm. The 2.7L 6 speed is faster and tows better then the 5.3L V8 trucks... If you've owned a 5.3L and towed with it, you know you need to keep the rpms up if you hit some hills, where the 2.7L just keeps trucking.

I'm sure an intake, catless down pipe and tune would really wake the 2.7L up.

Do you have a GM 2.7L? You're getting poor MPG? All the tests I've seen online seem to say it does well.

Yes, my 2020 has the 2.7L. Last truck was a 2018 with the 5.3L.

Its not even close to which motor was better. 5.3 got much better mileage, hauled better, and just over all felt better and more capable by the seat of your pants. The 2.7L is always working hard.

I generally got around 21-22 mpg in the 5.3 with mixed driving. The 2.7 has been in the 17-18 mpg range. I understand the 2.7L was meant to replace the 4.3 V6, so I know its a step up from that.

PS Its definitely not faster than the 5.3!

Only the 90k option for the first year for this mall crawler..

Do I wish Ford would up the Raptor HP.. Yes.. Is this HP useable at all on the street in a truck with no weight on the rear.. No..(A 3.5 F150 will blow the tires off on the street)

The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX, which comes in a short-bed, crew-cab configuration, is also available in a limited-run Launch Edition, of which only 702 will be made (get it?). The Launch Edition, which costs $90,265, comes only in Anvil Gray paint and the top-trim TR2 interior. That interior option includes a head-up display, Ram's first, as well as optional TRX red stitching and carbon accents.

With that starting price above $70,000, the Ram 1500 TRX costs $13,555 more than the crew-cab Ford Raptor, which starts at $58,135 for 2020.

I'm surprised the fuel economy is low for you. I was thinking about getting one for my wife, they are so much cheaper lol.

I love me some HP wars, I wish instead of baja trucks we'd get some muscle trucks. Give me reg cab short bed 427LTX
