so i built a plane in 1998. it has sat at my grandparents house untill last week. the plane is a tower hobbies 40. the motor seems to be locked up. i dont want to turn it to hard to break anything. what is a good way to free it up? id like to start playing with it again. any advice on how to fix the motor?

Take the plug out and add some after run oil and turn the crank. You could also put it in the oven on 150 - 200 and warm it up then add the oil and turn. but I would add some type of oil before turning. If not you will most likely need a piston and sleeve.

I am running a thunder tiger .46 and it runs great. lots of power. The .40's are ok for smaller planes.

that tower is a great trainer.
like jeremy said pull the plug and add some afterrun oil. Can also unbolt it and pull the cover off and pour oil in. Dont turn to hard or you will bend the rod

If you wern't so far away you could come fly with us... But Lake Orion is a little far for you to drive just to fly...
