I was talking with a buddy when a good question came up, I have looked online but can't find the answer. If you do not have a cpl, and you are at home or on your property, is it legal for you to carry concealed??

I do believe you can carry on your property however you want. But there are gun gurus on here that car confrim this and will know for sure the specifics.

Do I need a concealed pistol permit to carry my pistols while walking through the woods near my cabin in Michigan? If not, are there any restrictions on how or where the gun is carried?

MCL 750.227 allows you to carry a pistol concealed or not if you are in your own home or on your own property. If you do not own the land, no license is needed to carry a pistol as long as it is exposed. However, should a person cover the pistol during inclement weather with a jacket or coat or get into a vehicle, the pistol would be concealed, and the carrier would place himself in jeopardy unless he possessed a concealed pistol permit. Per Attorney General's opinion #3158 dated February 14, 1945, a holster, in plain view, is not considered concealed. Department of Natural Resources regulations require a person to have a valid Michigan hunting license if in an area inhabited by wildlife, while in possession of a firearm.

I'm not sure what the laws are in texas, but we went there years back on a hunting trip and it seemed like everyone carried a pistol, concealed and exposed.

if youre on your own land or in your home, you can carry any way you feel fit. I personally like to walk around the house with Dual AR-15s in hand like Rambo

are you playing GI Joe again?
I guess I don't care if you're carrying, but what would the reason be?
I never take mine out of the case, and I think if I was packin while mowing the lawn I'd probably get some strange looks....

I have one on me or within reach at all times. A gun does no good sitting in box under your bed when you're on the couch watching TV. If/when somebody kicks in your back door...are you going to ask them to hang on a second while you run to your room, reach under your bed, move your shoes outta the way, get your gun, open the case, go to the closet and get your ammo, load your magazine and then return to the living room?

TX does not allow open carry. MI does. However, TX is fast establishing a very solid reputation for siding with gun owners who defend themselves and their property.
