Question about brakes...

Going to do the brakes on the beater ('99 Cougar). Pads/rotors: just going with Duralast cheepos from Autozone. However, talking to someone at Midas (may have been my first mistake), they mentioned a brake hardware kit too. Is this optional, a "good idea" or not really necessary???

If the calipers move freely on the pins (those black things in the pic look like slider bushings) and the retainer wires are OK I'd skip those, especially if it's just a beater. Of course, they are only $9, so maybe why not.....

I'm retarded....didn't realize that's what those were. I could probably just grease up the ones I have a little unless, like you say, the wires need to replaced as well. Thanks!
