Pro-Shifting synchros?

Anyone know of a machine shop / performance trans shop in the Royal Oak area that has experience with pro-shifting gear sets (removing synchro teeth)? I'm told this is a Mustang trick, though my trans is definitely not for a Mustang.

Pics below of gears like mine:

3rd gear, every other tooth already removed before pic:

2nd gear - teeth marked, not yet removed (mill req'd):

The only place I know of is Liberty. They faceplated my buddies 97 cobra, it still shifts very smooth. Only problem is, it's hard to downshift . . . you have to find the right rpm that the car wants or some to a complete stop. Im against proshifting just because I like to drive my car all over the place, and drive and shift smoothly.

they can be shifted very smoothly on the street. you have to rev match or double clutch to downshift though

Thanks guys. This is a drag-only setup, trailered to the track and back home again. As long as I can flat shift 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4 I'll be good. I'll have to stop at the end of the track to repack the chute anyway. ;)

Just to help clarify here......ProjectNeon is asking about pro shifting not face plating.

And when I talked to Paul at Liberty's he said they do not pro shift transmissions. He would not do it to my T-56.

Do you know if they do non-T56 work? I would imagine the process is very similar. I've also heard that turnaround time from those guys for custom stuff can be a year or more. Is there someone there in particular I should talk to about unique requests? Is this "Paul" the right guy?

It sounds like face plating is an even better process than pro shifting, but will require me to take some additional components to them to get machined.

Thanks!

faceplated does not wear as fast as proshifting. then when they do wear, about 5 minutes with a file will fix it. They do most transmission.
the clutch must be used with either option

Reading your post it sounds like you are asking about no clutch shifting. The only company I know of that does anything like is liberty and the twin rial. You might be able to get Jerico Transmission to make you custom dog clutch syncro replacements. The jerico wil allow for no lift shifting. However get ready to get out the check book $$ If they will even do it.

Sorry if I was unclear; thats not what I'm asking. I plan to use the clutch, and in fact use the clutch switch to retard timing in the EMS to make WOT shifting easier on the transmission. I'm also converting the car to a hydraulic clutch setup with a flow control valve to reduce the shock of clutch engagement. I just need to be able to keep the throttle at WOT to keep the turbo in boost during shifts. Nobody has done this to a neon transmission before. I'm hoping Liberty can help.

You could setup the 2 step and boost builder to operate when the clutch is out. Solves both problems. As for faster shifting I agree liberty can definatly help in that regard. Why not go with a 3speed auto ?

Yep. The AEM has "rally" antilag menus for doing that. I'm guessing I won't need to enable that, as long as I can execute the shifts in .2 or better.

I actually have a beefed up 3-spd, that I only used for a couple passes in 2005. If I can't keep the 5spd together, I may switch back to it.

I am familiar with the EMS. Either way I think a 3speed auto would be more reliable. More traction friendly and easier on parts.

Just my opinion though.
